The problem

The roster eats hours every week, and still never feels safe.

Spreadsheets, notes, gut feeling

Who may work when? Who is on leave? How many hours has the apprentice already worked this week? Every answer lives in a different sheet, and Sunday evening is roster night all over again.

Labour law as a tripwire

Youth employment law, maternity protection, eleven hours of rest: one overlooked case is enough. Fines apply per affected person, and the works council rightly asks questions.

The group chat as roster

Shift swaps, sick notes, holiday requests: scattered across chats, sticky notes and quick words in passing. Who knows what actually applies? And who writes it down?

With eutempus: set the rules once, keep them every week

eutempus knows contracts, availability, qualifications and the law, and builds a roster that respects all of them. You review, adjust and publish with one click. You no longer build the roster, you have the final say on it.

  • Hours back

The roster takes minutes, not evenings. Your time belongs to your business again.

  • No nasty surprises

Rest periods, maximum hours and youth protection are checked before the roster reaches you.

  • Teams that stay

Fair Saturdays, day-off requests that are honoured, reliable rosters. Predictability is the best defence against staff turnover.

Live demo

A roster the way it comes together by hand.

This is what a roster looks like when it is put together by hand on a Friday afternoon: rest period breached, someone scheduled during their leave, one shift left unstaffed. Press “Optimise”, or shuffle the shifts around yourself first.

Roster demo

Interactive demo: a weekly roster for six employees with three shifts per day. Drag or tap to move shifts between people; “Optimise” lets a small optimiser fix every rule violation.

Simplified model with 11 rules. eutempus plans with 48 rules and your collective agreement.

Calculator

What does scheduling cost you today?

Do the maths with your own numbers. Every assumption is on show, and you can change any of them.

Typical: 60–80 %, depending on template quality.
– hours saved per year
– euros per year
– full-time weeks (at 38.5 h per week)

Simplified estimate, no guarantee: it counts scheduling time only, not the overtime, mis-staffing or legal risk you avoid.

“A weekly roster used to take me at least two hours. With eutempus it takes fifteen minutes, and the plan is better and fairer than before.”

How it works

Three steps to a finished roster

Rostering in one click: eutempus in two minutes (in German) Clicking loads the video from YouTube, and Google receives data such as your IP address. More in our privacy policy.
  1. 1

    Create a template

Enter opening hours, demand per qualification, contracts and patterns once. Every week is generated from that.

  2. 2

    Optimise and review

One click, and the optimiser runs. You see the score, every rule violation and the difference from the last run.

  3. 3

    Publish

Preview the changes, then release: app, PDF roster and e-mail per department. Only the people affected are notified.

The template: created once, every week is generated from it.

Features

One system for planners, employees and every location

From the first draft to the screen on the wall: eutempus covers the whole path, with no paper, no group chat, no follow-up questions.

Automatic staff scheduling

A roster that keeps every rule in view at once

The optimiser evaluates a vast number of possible assignments against 48 rules: hard ones such as qualification, availability or maximum hours, soft ones such as day patterns, overtime and fair Saturdays. It then finds the compromise you would otherwise hunt for by hand.

  • Templates for recurring weeks, alternative shifts and priorities
  • Rule check at a glance: see which rule is violated where, and what changed since the last run
  • Automatic coverage repair: under-staffed windows are detected and closed with extra shifts

Employee app

The roster in your pocket

The eutempus app shows every employee their published shifts, with breaks, department and notes. Swaps, giving up a shift and absence requests all go through the app, under rules you define. The group chat can be private again.

  • Shift swaps and hand-overs with automatic eligibility checks
  • Absence requests with notice periods you define
  • Push notifications on publication and changes, with read receipts for the planner
  • German, English and Czech

Wall monitor

Today’s team on the wall

A screen in the break room, behind the till or at reception shows who is in today, which tasks are open and which customer pick-ups are due. Live and without login.

  • Daily overview with a timeline per department
  • Tick off to-dos with a personal PIN; recurring tasks from templates
  • Customer reservations and pick-ups by department
  • Devices pair with a code and update themselves

Also in eutempus

  • Autopilot

Plans upcoming weeks in the background from your template. When a run fails or violations remain, the autopilot flags that week in the roster, with the run log and the reason. Publishing is always done by a person.

  • AI assistant

“Why can’t Anna work on Wednesday?” The assistant has every answer checked by the optimiser and proposes changes instead of making them. The open MCP interface works with your own AI assistants too.

  • Several locations

Stores or bank branches that share staff are planned together, with no double bookings, with an hours budget per location and travel time between them.

Sectors

At work where rosters get complicated

The rules differ, the task stays the same: the right people with the right qualification at the right time in the right place.

  • Grocery retail

Black/white Saturdays, apprentices under youth employment law, relief staff moving between stores and qualifications such as till or deli: eutempus plans them all in one run.

  • Banking

One team, several branches: eutempus staffs counters and reception at every location, plans morning and afternoon duties and knows who can work where on which day.

  • Medical practices

Surgery hours, reception and assistants: eutempus staffs every session with the right qualifications, plans split duties and takes leave requests through the app.

Rules & compliance

Austrian labour law: built in, not bolted on

Every rule is a separate, named condition in its own right. Violations are not found after the fact: the optimiser checks the rules while it plans and shows every violation that remains.

  • Youth employment law

Daily and weekly limits for under-18s, with no scheduled overtime.

  • Apprentices

Separate daily limits from age 18, and no lone working where supervision is required.

  • Maternity protection

Nine hours a day, 40 a week, applied automatically for the period on record.

  • 11 hours of rest

Between two shifts on consecutive days; the roster flags any shortfall.

  • Black/white Saturday

The Saturday rotation retail uses, early finishes included.

  • Collective agreement

Public-holiday credit, working days per week and pay premiums as each agreement defines them.

  • Opening hours & holidays

Set-up and close-down time, exceptions on individual days, public holidays with their own factor.

  • Days off

Minimum and maximum days off per week. Leave and public holidays count.

What the law requires of every staff schedule is explained in our guide: Staff scheduling in Austria

eutempus is not a substitute for legal advice. The rules model the statutory requirements in the form in which they are configured for your business.

Security & operations

Security a works council understands

  • Own database per customer

No shared tables and no tenant column: every customer gets their own database. A mistake in a query cannot reach anyone else’s data.

  • Operated in Austria

Developed and hosted in Upper Austria; nothing is handed to cloud providers outside the EU.

  • Permissions down to the department

22 permissions across 5 groups, combined freely into roles of your own. Scheduling and absences can additionally be limited to individual departments.

  • Audit trail

Every change to roster, staff or settings is recorded with user and timestamp.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does eutempus fit our collective agreement?

The statutory basics are built in: the daily limits of the working-time act, youth employment law and maternity protection, and the rest-period check. Collective-agreement details such as public-holiday credits or the counting of working days are pluggable modules that we configure with you during onboarding.

Does eutempus work outside retail?

Yes. eutempus schedules grocery stores, bank branches and medical practices today. The statutory rules apply to everyone; sector-specific ones such as black/white Saturdays are switched on only where they apply.

How does our data get from Excel into eutempus?

We migrate employees, contracts, qualifications and time balances together with you at the start. Time balances are then imported regularly from payroll. The finished roster is exported as a PDF and distributed by app and e-mail.

Do our employees need a smartphone?

No. The app is optional. The published roster is also distributed as a PDF per department and sent by e-mail, and the wall monitor shows the day right on site.

What does eutempus cost?

Pricing depends on the number of locations and employees. After the call you get a concrete quote with no hidden items, to compare with what scheduling costs you today.

How long does onboarding take?

Typically: template and master data in the first week, running alongside your current roster in the second, then the switch. We stay with you in person throughout.

What will the works council say?

Usually: finally, something transparent. eutempus plans by rules that apply to everyone alike, logs every change with user and timestamp, and is there for scheduling, not for monitoring performance. We are happy to provide the technical information a works agreement needs.

Is eutempus worth it for a single location?

Yes, as soon as the roster takes you more than a couple of hours a week, or rules such as youth employment law, maternity protection or black/white Saturdays apply to you. A single site, whether store, branch or practice, is also the fastest to set up.

See eutempus run on your own rules.

In 30 minutes we show you how a roster for your business comes together, with your opening hours, your qualifications, your collective agreement.
